One last day. One long drive home. Day 20 brought interstate highway driving through the subtly changing landscape of five states.

This area of the country has its own beauty from the morning’s Indiana farmland to Kentucky’s horse pastures and forest hills as I-64 led us through the Daniel Boone National Forest.

In West Virginia, we stopped to eat a quick lunch in the car at the welcome center before continuing on through the Appalachians.

The highway bore through several mountains in Virginia and we returned to North Carolina soil by late afternoon.

20 Days.

18 States.

6 National Parks.

6,879 miles.

Countless memories to last a lifetime.
