Are you ready to take a stroll back to the 50’s and enjoy classic diner food with the best ice cream sundaes on Disney property?

Then, let’s head on over to one of my family’s favorite restaurants at Disney World – Beaches and Cream Soda Shop!

Beaches and Cream is located at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. If you’re not already at Beach Club or Yacht Club as a guest, its location on Crescent Lake and close proximity to Epcot and Hollywood Studios make it an easy choice for a meal when visiting those parks.

Beaches and Cream serves diner food cooked on an open skillet. Think burgers, patty melts, and other sandwiches. They offer a variety of shakes and floats to accompany your meal along with an impressive ice cream dessert menu.

Of course, Beaches and Cream may be best known for its famous Kitchen Sink sundae and we’ll get that in this review as well. We have eaten at Beaches and Cream numerous times, both for meals and just the Kitchen Sink.

Beaches and Cream Decor

Reservations can be difficult to get due to this restaurant’s small size. There are literally only three booths and seven small, round tables along with a counter with about a dozen barstools. Fortunately, Beaches and Cream will soon be expanding. It’s temporarily closing in August 2019 and is expected to reopen in late 2019.

The decor is amazing. It’s a 50’s diner with pastel colors, a jukebox, counter seating, and an open kitchen. All of the food is made to order right behind the counter.

Price

Beaches and Cream is one of the lower-priced table service restaurants. Adult entrees all run in the mid- to high-teens. Of course, you’ll spend more than that on ice cream for dessert! Ice cream sundaes run in the $8-$12 range. Kids meals are around $10 including an ice cream dessert.

Our total check here for a family of four has always been in the $70 range including an AP discount and excluding tip when we order entrees and ice cream.

Incredible Service

Due to its small size, food is cooked and served very quickly. While little time passes from the time you place your order until the food arrives at your table and Beaches and Cream could easily turn over tables quickly here to serve more guests, we have never felt rushed. We’ve always been given plenty of time to review the menu and are never rushed out after we have finished the meal.

Location at Disney’s Beach Club Resort

We also love the location of Beaches and Cream. It overlooks the Stormalong Bay pool at two of our favorite resorts, Disney’s Beach Club and Yacht Club.

It’s a short walk outside Epcot’s International Gateway entrance so a meal here is a great escape from the crowds on an Epcot day. Definitely consider reserving a mealtime at Beaches and Cream on an Epcot touring day. Don’t forget that even with a base ticket (not a park hopper), you can still leave the park as long as you return to the same one, opening up your dining options to restaurants outside of the parks.

Even better, Beaches and Cream is just a FriendShip boat ride away from Hollywood Studios where decent meal options are harder to find.

Favorite Food at Beaches & Cream

My favorite entree at Beaches and Cream is the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato bisque soup. On its own, the soup is good but not particularly memorable. However, the grilled cheese with its blend of six cheeses is among the best I’ve ever had and even better dipped in the tomato bisque. I got the grilled cheese on our first visit and have had the Mendy’s conundrum ever since (a gold star for you if you get the Seinfeld reference!) and always order the same thing!

Likewise, I pair the grilled cheese sandwich with a No Way Jose sundae. This is a chocolate and peanut butter lover’s dream! Chocolate and vanilla ice cream is smothered in peanut butter sauce and hot fudge, topped with chocolate and peanut butter chips, and whipped cream. Seriously, best ice cream sundae ever!

My kids always get their standard favorites, too – a hot dog for one and mac and cheese for the other. The kids get a Mickey Mouse sundae with their meals – one scoop of ice cream with two Oreos for ears and a cherry mouse tail. It’s so simple and my boys LOVE it!

Kitchen Sink Sundae

If you’ve only heard one thing about Beaches and Cream before, you’ve probably heard about the Kitchen Sink Sundae.

The Kitchen Sink is every ice cream flavor and topping in the house served in a kitchen sink bowl. It’s literally everything IN the kitchen sink! It’s a $34 sundae and it’s huge!

The Kitchen Sink comes in three varieties. The classic Kitchen Sink is every ice cream flavor and topping in the kitchen – vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, cookies and cream, and mint chocolate chip ice creams along with brownie pieces, chocolate sauce, peanut butter sauce, candy bar pieces, chocolate chips, pineapple, banana, cherries, and more. And, of course, it’s topped with an entire can of whipped cream.

It’s also available in Chocolate Lovers and Neapolitan. We don’t feel that all the flavors in the original Kitchen Sink really go together, so we got the chocolate lovers sink. This one is 8 total scoops of chocolate, vanilla, and cookies and cream ice cream. Toppings are all chocolate including brownies, candy bars, sprinkles, chips, chocolate sauce, and more. And, of course a whole can of whipped cream.

The Kitchen Sink sundae is served in style. The diner’s lights are dimmed, spinning lights start flashing, and your server will announce this decadent dessert to the entire place, reeling off all the ingredients and a whole can of whipped cream.

A WHOLE CAN? Yes, a whole can!

Be prepared to participate in this tradition if anyone else orders a kitchen sink during your visit!

This sundae is served with a large serving spoon, individual bowls and spoons for everyone, and straws to slurp up the melted ice cream and whipped cream soup at the end.

The Kitchen Sink is an odd one to review. Depending on your party’s appetites, I recommend going JUST for the Kitchen Sink if you intend to get one. It’s a lot of ice cream to eat right after a meal. We recommend getting the Kitchen Sink (whichever variety appeals to your family) once but only once. It’s fun, a great memory, and an exciting story to tell from your vacation, but the individual sundaes on the menu taste better so return for those instead.

The whole can of whipped cream is just too much and it takes awhile to dig underneath for the ice cream goodness. This sundae will also easily start melting before you’re even close to finishing it so there’s quite a puddle of melted ice cream and whipped cream at the end.

Overall, the Kitchen Sink is a novelty and I’m 100% glad that my family tried it once and I’m 100% certain we won’t get it again! It was absolutely fun to eat and almost an attraction in itself. Now that we’ve done it, we’ll save our Beaches and Cream reservations for the tasty diner food and individual ice cream sundaes.

What If I Can’t Get A Reservation?

Beaches and Cream also offers a to-go window with a limited ice cream menu. This window does NOT offer the No Way Jose and offers a smaller Mini Mickey Sink sundae. We haven’t used the to-go window, but it’s a great way to enjoy ice cream without a reservation while near the Beach Club. There are several tables outside overlooking Stormalong Bay.

Another option is to ask for a counter seat. We’ve always had four in our party so we’ve had reservations for a table, but we have always seen walk-ins get a seat at the counter and even a family of four celebrating a birthday with a Kitchen Sink there.
