The final day of our New England family road trip began with some Sunday driving through the beautiful streets of New Jersey in the fall. We visited my old elementary school, drove down my childhood street, felt all the feels as I took a photo with my babies in front of the house where all the memories of the first nine years of my life live, and brought the boys to Kunkel Park in Pennington where I spent countless afternoons as a child.

We continued on into Hopewell where my mother grew up and grandparents owned the town hardware store for two generations. I continued revisiting my childhood memories by stopping in Pennington Market for some birch beer for my dad (Publix in North Carolina doesn’t sell his favorite beverage!), snacks for the road, and some deli American cheese, just for old time’s sake.

After a quick Burger King lunch, it was time to leave New Jersey and drive south. We would arrive home long after dark so the boys spent several hours playing and reading in the back seat with headlamps! Such an amazing 16 days of memories.
